My Students
Physical education is a high-energy class where students focus on improving their fitness levels and learning how to live healthy lifestyles. I refer to my K-6th grade students as my Winn-ers and they work hard to reflect the criteria for being a Winn-er: Always do your best and never quit. Students enter class excited to get started and leave class enthusiastic about what they have accomplished.
A portable kip bar will allow me to have a station for students to work on gymnastic bar skills and upper body strength.
My annual P.E. budget of $100 barely covers basic P.E. equipment, let alone specialized equipment for learning tumbling and gymnastics.
My Project
We have not been able to provide gymnastics as part of our school physical education program in the past. Now I am trying to put together a unit by purchasing individual pieces that can be used as a practice station.
I like the portable kip bar because it can also be used for modified pull-ups and other upper body strength activities.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade will be able to meet state and national physical education standards using this gymnastics equipment. Mats will be placed under the kip bar for safety and students will be taught how to use the kip bar properly.
