My students are energetic PreK - 2nd grade students who come into my classroom every day full of excitement and ready to learn. Despite the fact that my students are growing up in a high-poverty rural town, they are excited to learn and achieve and are full believers in the age-old saying "you can be anything you want to be when you grow up".
There are few things more rewarding than seeing such a passion for learning.
My students have a true zest for life and learning! It is my hope that through the continued use of hands-on STEM learning, they will continue to feel enthusiastic about education, and work hard to pursue their dreams!
My Project
Through the donation of three Botley robotics kits, PreK through second-grade students will learn about and apply their knowledge of computer coding, direction, and sequencing. They will see how understanding computer code is relevant to everyday life, and connect that STEM learning is important for their future. Students will be real life computer coders, sending Botley on adventures of their own creation!
My students learn best when they are participating in hands-on activities that require them to be in charge of their own learning.
The donated materials would provide them with this experience, and encourage them to explore computer coding and robotics like never before. Can primary students use computer code? You bet, and I intend to prove it to them. Students see computer code used every single day, they just might not understand that yet. Botley would be the perfect assistant to introduce them to the growing and essential world of code!
