My Students
Remember being stuck in your seat all day while you were in school? It is so hard to concentrate and make yourself focus when you can't move around. My students are hungry for the ability to move.
My classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life.
We are a Title One school, which means we have a number of students who are on free and reduced lunch. I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn.
My Project
I am requesting wobble chairs, Bouncy Bands and clipboards that allow students to move around and provide flexible seating as they work. Wobble chairs improve student time on task since they aren't as anxious or hyperactive. Using Bouncy Bands in my room will create a quiet way students can move that won't disturb or distract other students. Children love wobble chairs and clipboards since they can finally move around to comfortable places while they work, instead of feeling trapped at their desks all day.
Funding this project will allow my students, who have trouble focusing in class without constant movement, the ability to move constantly without standing out as different to other students in the room.
This should improve productivity for all students in my room, as distractions will go away and everyone will have the ability to get some movement when they are feeling cramped and stuck at their desks.
