Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students, ages three to five and a half years old, are part of an inclusive pre-kindergarten environment. They live in a multicultural city and for this reason they are very diverse. They are diverse not only in their cultures and ethnic backgrounds, but also in their physical, cognitive, behavioral and emotional learning abilities. Our school is part of a Title I district where at least 75% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

My students' love for learning always amazes me.

They are curious and eager to learn new ideas through play-based, multisensory, hands-on activities. As a teacher, I am constantly striving to provide new materials and experiences that will allow them to grow in all areas of development. My ultimate goal is to provide a solid educational foundation and instill with them a lifetime love for learning.

My Project

In the beautiful story, "Oh, the Places You'll Go!", Dr. Seuss explores concepts of the future, self-confidence and aspiring dreams. He refers to life as the, "Great Balancing Act" with all of the ups and downs it presents while encouraging us to find the success that lie within us.

As a teacher, my hope is that all my students understand that, with hard work, they can achieve anything they want.

In light of the pandemic we have all been dealing with for the past few months, I believe this book would be a perfect send off my my young students starting out in the maze of life. It will help communicate that even though times may get tough, we must keep our heads up and not give up. With hard work and perseverance, we can, "Move Mountains!"
