Kicking Off Kindergarten With a Love of Reading and Numbers

My students need a tablet to practice early literacy and math skills in the classroom!

My Students

I teach in a Title I school where every student receives free breakfast and lunch. Each day, my students enter my kindergarten classroom coming from very diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of ability levels. I have students who do not know their letters and students who are ready to begin reading. No matter their backgrounds or ability levels, they leave my room each day knowing they are loved. It is my goal to begin their journey of school through positive and engaging experiences that will set them on a path of success for the rest of their careers in school.

My Project

This tablet I am requesting will allow me to integrate computer-based literacy and math programs right into my small-group instruction. Right now, my students have access to a computer about twice a week in our computer lab. However, in their world, they are surrounded by technology every day.

Without a tablet in our classroom, my students are missing out on using great online resources that support our reading and math curriculum.

Students can work on remedial skills, while others can work on enrichment activities. Having a tablet in my classroom would really allow me to do so many new things with my students and engagement would really soar in my classroom!
