My Students
Can you imagine trying to navigate adulthood without being able to do basic mathematical operations? This is exactly why I'm looking for math resources for my students. I'm a special education math teacher looking to provide my students with functional math skills to be amazing adults.
My students attend a city charter school.
They are awesome kids who try very hard. They're great about saying what they need to know. They know what functional skills they need to work on and regularly ask for more practice. I know that they have the potential to be wonderful productive members of society. They just need the initial boost.
My Project
I have chose materials that will all directly help my students master functional mathematical skills. For additional practice opportunities, I need workbooks that will support my students' growth in functional math skills. I also added manipulatives that will help my students interact with topics in a variety of ways. I believe that the hands-on and visual aspects of manipulatives will give my students additional opportunities to think about and understand topics. My students are highly engaged in review activities and would be thrilled to use the math games that are also included. I'm always looking for ways to get my students to buy in to review and practice opportunities, and I believe that the interactive nature of the games will motivate students to practice their skills.
I fundamentally believe that students learn in a variety of ways.
It is my goal to use these tools to help engage learners of all different learning styles and ability levels. Donating to this project will be a direct investment in my students' futures.
