This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are strong, independent thinkers with a desire to succeed. In an area filled with crime and poverty, my students show up to class ready to learn. Many come from broken homes and are often unsure where their next meal will come from. Yet, even with the odds stacked against them they show up to class daily. Currently, 30% of our population is either in foster care or living with an extended family member. All students receive free meals, school supplies and community services. They never complain about their struggles; they just smile and do their best. They deserve the best education I can give them.

My Project

Please help out by making a donation for equipment for the soccer team. Our school serves students in grades TK-12 in the often under represented area of Encanto in Southeast San Diego. Having the needed supplies to effectively play a sport is crucial to keep the interest alive and promote a healthy lifestyle and positive choices. Keeping students interested in sports and away from gangs and violence is one of my main objectives as coach. I look forward to working with all youth and enjoy the teamwork and camaraderie that the team creates; a true brotherhood of compassionate, hard workers that are an example to follow.
