This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember that feeling of nervous excitement when it was time to go back-to-school shopping at the end of summer? My wish and hope is that my future students will experience that feeling, but I know the reality is that many of them will not due to lack of money or transportation.
My soon-to-be kindergarten students are enrolled in an inner-city Maryland school.
Our school building looks awful from the outside, but inside it houses a group of excited, energetic students! We are in a neighborhood full of poverty and many of our students come from one-parent households. Despite these barriers, our students managed to give our school a very high attendance rate last year! We celebrate successes and are a strong community of learners.
My Project
I am requesting basic school supplies for my students. Although these items may seem simple, they will create a sense of ownership and pride in my class. I am asking for these supplies so that each and every student will be assured to begin their year with all the items they will need. Everyone knows that kindergarten students like to create special projects.
We will use the construction paper for a multitude of activities! Students love to make cards, posters, and special art projects with the colored construction paper. We also use glue practically every day of the year! My students are constantly writing, drawing, and creating throughout the day. The nameplates and sentence strips are essential for my little ones who are still learning how to write their names and other important words. We will use the amazing classroom mailbox to store our papers neatly and efficiently. Finally, the white boards will help my students become the writers that I know they can be!
The kindergarten year is filled with so much promise, energy, and excitement!
These students are the future leaders of our country and are about to embark on an adventure like no other! I know that these students will appreciate and love each and every school supply they get to use. I also know that they deserve the very best in order to achieve every goal! Thank you so much for your consideration and kind donation.
