This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students love traditional sports. However, they are also curious and willing to try out new and uncommon sports and activities whenever there is an opportunity. Being able to provide these new experiences for our students allows them to discover more ways to be active in the present, and for a whole lifetime. As a Second Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, I myself, understand how the principles of martials arts can last a lifetime.

Non-traditional sports such as boxing, kickboxing, and martial arts are not only great exercise, but beneficial for mental, emotional, and social health.

They are activities in which all should experience at least once in their lives. Unfortunately, many miss out on these valuable learning experiences and activities because they are not popular nor offered in areas such as schools.

I would love to give my students the opportunity to get an "out-of-the-ordinary" physical education experience through learning non-traditional sports such as boxing, kickboxing, and martial arts.

Equipment such as freestanding punching bags and jump ropes will be used to teach all my virtual students during our in-person activity sessions. These sessions will focus on fitness, discipline, social interaction, and mental/emotional exercise and health.
