This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are not your typical middle school kids. They have a love of learning and strive to excel in school. In particular, they love reading and, despite their socioeconomic status, they are amazing learners with so much curiosity and imagination. My school is a Title I school with the majority of students on free/reduced price lunch, but that doesn't hold these kids back. They have such drive and determination to achieve at such high levels. My students have a never-give-up attitude and constantly strive for success both in and out of the classroom.

My Project

My students need a reading carpet in our classroom. Many of my students are special needs and require flexible seating in the room. This rug will be a huge start and help with that.

The reading carpet will promote more reading throughout the day by providing an alternative place for them to kick back and enjoy a good book.

With a huge emphasis on reading in classrooms today, this rug will make a huge difference in my students academic lives.
