My Project

The KHS Fitness Center is utilized by grade 9 through 12 physical education classes, all of our high school athletic teams, and the community after school and sports hours. The physical health and wellness of our student body, athletes, and community is one of our main objectives and providing them a safe space to increase this is what our district is asking for support with. An improvement in our facilities will help improve physical health, which in turn will improve mental, social, and emotional health in our students and community.

The fitness center will help all students, not just athletes, learn good habits of becoming physically fit.

A fitness center filled with safe equipment will give students a way to break away from the traditional classroom setting and provide an outlet to positively use energy. The fitness center will also provide a way to improve sports performance, prevent injuries, and elevate self confidence. With proper training in a weight room, students will gain self confidence of setting goals, overcoming obstacles, and beating challenges they face.

In our district we have many students who can not afford a gym membership or do not have the transportation to go to a gym. In addition, our district is facing a major financial crisis which prioritizes staffing over equipment. A fitness center in the school can provide students throughout the day or after school a chance to exercise properly with trained coaches and physical education teachers. Providing our students with a safe place after their structures academic schedule is a huge priority in our district and filling that space with safe and updated equipment is a necessity to making this project come to life.
