This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our South Bronx high school is comprised of students from all over the world. Our students are learning English in a diverse, multicultural community. All our students are from low income households.
We are always in need of resources to expand our literacy program.
Our students are adapting to a new environment and will face a unique challenges which they must learn to overcome.
In order to prepare them for the future they need to develop technological and literacy skills to have success in today's rapidly changing world.
My Project
Our entire school shares a small number of iPad keyboards that get designated to the upper grades. The 9th and 10th graders get stuck writing essays on their touchpads.
With no keyboards, our students do not have the opportunity to learn how to type until they reach 11th grade.
By this time, they are typing so slowly it is frustrating and hard for them to meet deadlines.
Please help give my 60 students keyboards for their 9th - 10th grade writing class so they can learn how to type their essays. This will prepare them for success after high school.
