it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are starting a band at our Elementary School next year!
At our school, our music class draws from a diverse set of musical backgrounds--hip hop, cumbia, funk, afrobeat, blues, jazz, salsa, pop and more.
Students in the music class learn not only music but also the history and culture that their music comes from.
Our students are very eager to play piano, but we currently don't have any!
The keyboards we are looking for with this project have a great sound, and the keys mimic an acoustic piano. This is very important because it allows the students to play dynamically--softly and loudly as the music calls for. This will help the students express themselves and learn about dynamics in our music class.
By donating to this project, you are helping a title 1 school where most of the students are on free and reduced lunch. I have taught at this school for 5 years and plan to stay here for a long time, so these keyboards will benefit many generations of students.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
