Ms. Puzzo from Saint Louis MO is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 10 laptop computers for our classroom in order to provide each and every student with 21st century skills that are now required to be successful in the outside world.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I work at a Title I school where 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
68% of the students in my building are homeless.
Even though my students face many hardships, they are so eager to learn new things.
The students in my classroom have a variety of ways that they learn best and have different amounts of academic experience. They have so much potential for learning and growth. My students come to school every day trying their best and knowing that someone believes in them.
Having laptops in the classroom can open so many doors for my students. Being at a low income school, most of the students in my classroom do not have access to laptop computers at home.
Not only will they provide my students the opportunity to work, research, and learn independently, these laptops will help provide all of the students in my classroom exposure to 21st century skills.
Being a magnet school, we are constantly testing. My students would be gaining more practice on the same device they would be testing on as well as having the opportunity to make their own creations and researching topics that they're interested in. This would also give my students the opportunity to practice and improve on their fine motor skills as well as facilitate social and emotional development. They would be sharing with their fellow students, learning to take turns, and having discussions on what they have learned.
Students would also be able to familiarize themselves with the keyboard as well as letter and number recognition. These laptops will provide my students with portability to give them the chance to learn outside of our normal classroom environment. With the portability, we could explore and document our schools atrium, courtyard, and greenhouses.
My classroom does not yet have the level of technology to meet my students needs as learners. However, with this donation I am confident that my students will be able to grow and learn at a whole new level.
