Keyboards For All Learners

My students need color coded keyboards with extra large keys so they can learn where the numbers, letters and function keys are.

My Students

I teach technology to grades Kindergarten thru third grade in a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York. Many of my students are from families that fall below the poverty line. I have students of varying levels, special needs and languages all in the technology lab at the same time.

Many of my students do not have access to technology at home so when they come to the technology lab they are excited and eager to learn and get to work.

My students are bright, cheerful, loving , excited and and eager to learn.

My Project

I have many special needs students who enjoy their time in the technology lab. My kiddos are fiercely independent and want to log on with out assistance but they often struggle when they have to log on using the keyboard. Having these keyboards with larger keys that are also color coded will give them the opportunity to be able to log on. These keyboards will also assist my kiddos with low muscle tone who often struggle when writing with pencils. Having these color coded keyboards will allow students to learn where the numbers, letters and function keys are without spending their entire technology time searching for the right key.

All students want to be independent, having these keyboards with extra large color coded keys will help them have the independence and success that all students deserve.

I want all my students to be successful and have same opportunities having keyboards with larger keys that are also color coded in the technology lab will help me better help and reach all of my students.
