This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a neighborhood school that serves a variety of students from all walks of life. We work hard to ensure every student gets what they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom. As a neighborhood school, we serve a diverse population of students with diverse needs. They are driven, focused, and intelligent young people who deserve high-quality resources.

COVID has created a tumultuous few school years and I work hard to ensure that my students have a learning environment that makes them feel successful.

My Project

I work with students who often acquire new skills at a rate that is a little slower than their peers. They work hard and persevere no matter the challenge, and part of my job is to remove barriers to their success and independence. We are lucky that our district has committed to providing technology for every student. Our K-2 students use iPads and our students 3rd grade and above use Chromebooks. This means that our students go through a big tech transition when they move from 2nd to 3rd grade! Often, this is the first time many students have encountered a keyboard.

These resources will allow students to begin developing their keyboarding skills early & have visual supports to help them remember where keys are.

Having this early practice, and continued reinforcement, will help my students progress at a rate similar to their peers and also allow them to independently access learning opportunities!
