My students need two classpacks of colored pencils some manual sharpeners and two electric pencil sharpeners.

My Students

I teach over 350 students each year! My 8th grade Health students rotate each semester. We write something every period of every day, so my pencil sharpener gets used a lot!

We are a Title I school as well as a California Distinguished School, and my students are used to working hard.

Most of them use pencils rather than pens, so a good sharpener is essential. My students love to get creative, so I incorporate color whenever I can. We need more colored pencils as well as an efficient sharpener that is colored pencil-compatible!

My Project

The electric pencil sharpeners that I am requesting will keep up with the demands of the more than 350 students that I teach each year. In addition to daily writing in each class, we also complete a variety of projects and activities that require colored pencils. These get dull quickly and cannot be sharpened by my current sharpener.

Having new colored pencils and a fast, efficient way to sharpen them will promote student learning because having the best materials will allow them to complete their best work.

Furthermore, the quiet volume of these two sharpeners will help minimize classroom disturbance while they are being used. (I have to stop teaching every time a student uses my current sharpener because it is so loud). I am also requesting a few manual sharpeners that can be kept at each table. All of this will reduce student frustration and ultimately lead to a better quality of work. Thank you for your support!
