Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning how to be organized and prepared for learning are critical first grade skills. They are life-long skills that students will use throughout their education and every day life.

Teaching this executive functioning skill through the use of durable folders that match our school subjects is a first step in helping our students be more organized.

Students will have a colored folder for math, reading, writing, science/social studies and homework. They will be labeled with their first and last names so students can keep track of their personal belongs and learn how to read and write their full name.

Traditional paper folders often get torn and battered by students taking the folders in and out of their chair pouches. These plastic folders are strong and will last all school year long. Inside the folders, students will have special resources in sheet protectors such as alphabet charts, number grids and spelling charts. These tools will be kept safe in the sheet protectors that will also enable them to be written on with a dry-erase marker.
