Keeping Up With Modern Technology in a STEM Classroom

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school itself is in a suburban setting. However, most students are from a nearby low-income and high crime rate area.
Despite this, a fair percentage of such students are motivated to learn.
They work hard and are excited to learn. The students are underprivileged and deserve to get as much help as possible.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad Air for in-person class. The Apple iPad is a gateway to modern course materials and educational technology. The bulky laptop which my school district provides is inconvenient in moving around the classroom and interacting with students.
The iPad can be used as an electronic chalkboard to clearly present lessons, modeling and activities to students to the class.
It is great for taking attendance as well. It can be used as a second screen in distance teaching, in addition to using a laptop. Augmented reality to help visualization of STEM demos is unique to the iPad.
My Physics students can see the phases of the Moon much better with animation software that support augmented reality. My Precalculus students can visualize the geometry of solutions to 3x3 Systems of Linear Equations using animations that rely on augmented reality. These animations make math and science less abstract and easier to understand.
These benefits make the iPad indispensable to the teacher.
