Help me give my students a working bookcase that can house all of our book bins, informal assessment devices, and classroom reference tools (number line, blend game)
I teach at a Title I elementary school in South Philadelphia.
My twenty-eight kindergarten students are very hard working, respectful, loving, and driven.
They support each other daily through activities, positive praise, and buddy work. Each student learns in a different way, whole group or small group, visual, auditory or kinesthetic means. Each student has a different level of ability in each subject. The goal is to motivate, encourage, and support students through their learning journey. They will become responsible for their own progress. I love being able to create opportunities for my students and show them all of their potential!
My Project
Our classroom is filled with a variety of great books! They are all sorted by genre and author. However, we need one more working book case to help store all of these bins as well as their individual book bins, when they get to go "book shopping" weekly.Recently the students have been using these writing desks that I borrowed from a teacher. This helps them complete their work free of distractions and in a new environment. Students are at the desk all day long so moving to a new environment for writing helps them greatly. The red and blue number line helps the students identify numbers and serves as a classroom tool.
The expo markers will help as I informally assess all students during whole group lessons, and cater my instruction to their direct needs .
The students will come to the carpet and to answer questions. I am able to assess the students quickly, and reteach to the areas I see they need help. The magnetic ten frame help the students with their mathematical fluency. The students will visually see the different colored added that create ten. My students highly enjoy math, and this will only increase their fluency. The play monster Chunk Pocket Chart will let the students create and read words based on identifying chunks. My students are able to read multi-syllabic words by the end of the year by chunking the words based on their blends and digraphs.
