Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of the children who entered my classroom this year are English Language Learners. Most will be having their first 'school' learning experiences right here in my classroom. Having such a diverse class is incredible and makes for great learning opportunities. We get to learn more than just academics; we get to learn about tolerance, acceptance, and kindness. I want each of my students to have the most successful start as possible, despite their individual learning backgrounds. I would like this year to be magical and instill a love of learning into every one of them. I just know with the new supplies we receive we will fly through this year and be ready to tackle 1st grade. All of the materials will be used to provide a wide array of hands-on learning experiences to increase our understanding and retention.

My Project

Many of my students are coming in needing some extra help with letters and letter sounds, as well as number sense. Like most kids, they could also use some help with social skills such as sharing, empathy, self regulation, and overall sharing our space with other kids in a classroom. Many of the materials will help my students with the concepts in the classroom by helping them work together in small groups while using fun manipulatives. The letter and number games will be used with teachers in small groups to help aid in their retention of those skills while still having fun.
