This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from a diverse and rural background. I have many students who are from a one parent home or live with grandparents. All of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch, we are a Title I school. Some of the parents have difficulty purchasing essential school supplies and rely on community partners for the simplest of supplies, like pencils.
The students are eager to come to school and learn.
With the pandemic and current hybrid classrooms, I would like the students to have the magic board to be able to write cvc and sight words on.
My Project
Learning is a tough job but it is extra hard learning in a classroom two days a week. When my district finally opened back up for hybrid learning, the magic of learning seemed to disappear as well. I’d like to give it back them by allowing them to create words and sentences that can be “magically” erased and rewritten. Kindergartners need that kind of magic these days. IPads and computers have taken over every classroom but with these magic boards I can hopefully let their imaginations flow like five year olds should.
