Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a TK-2nd special education classroom for individuals with intellectual disabilities who participate in the moderate/severe alternative curriculum. My class is the sole special education program at our school site dedicated to students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities on the alternative curriculum. My students are extremely active, and their attention span lasts no longer than ten to fifteen minutes per activity. My students have a variety of needs including basic daily life-skills (e.g. diapering) to exposure to age appropriate standards based curriculum.

My Project

Your generous donations will help keep my classroom organized and defined for my students. The drying rack will support students artistic talent and independence. The drying rack will keep students work safe while drying. The drying rack also promotes independence when students place their work in their assigned slot by finding their name and placing their work in the appropriate space. This can be differentiated for students by adding visuals and/or their name.

The magna tile will keep students engaged while using their imagination to create.

They will also be working on their fine motor skills and social skills while using the magna-tiles. Students will be encouraged to work together when building and prompted to take turns.

The materials donated will help support students who need a highly structured and organized environment. My students need multiple opportunities and manipulative to explore and demonstrate their learning.
