Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Asking students to sit still and be active listener for long periods of time every day while they are at school is crazy. As an adult, my body starts to ache during long meeting and conferences. For my students who are 4 and 5 years old and for a child who is ADHD, just sitting for less than 5 minutes seem like forever.

Research proves an active mind can retain more information in the long term area.

This is why I am requesting some physical education equipment, such as the hopscotch rug, catch and toss ball sets, to allow my students, especially my active ADHD and special needs students, more opportunities to take learning outside and do some physical education activities. When I notice my students are in need of a break, I plan to take them outside to play soccer or play with some of the requested items to help them release their energy so they can come back to class for more learning. In my class, I have a few special needs students who have ADHD, and letting them have the option to take a break will allow them the chance to engage more deeply in their learning when we return to class..

These requested items, such as the hopscotch rug, catch and toss ball sets, not only enhance my special needs/ADHD students' academics, but will also increase their self-confidence and self-esteem! Most importantly, it will help all my students, regardless of whether they are ADHD or not, to stay healthy and fit while they are in school.
