Keeping Reading And Writing Close And Together!

My students need the Close Reading Comprehension Learning Center to improve their literacy skills, and Writing Process Folders to help organize their wriiting and keep it safe until completion.

My Students

I have a diverse group of 3rd graders from a low income area. Many of them are at risk, with school being the safest place they know and the only constant in their lives. We are a Title I school where every child receives free breakfast and lunch. In spite of these setbacks, these amazing kids come to school every day with smiles on their faces, hope in their hearts, and an eagerness to learn! They never cease to amaze me with their spirit and determination!

My Project

My students love to read and write, but need additional support with appropriate complex texts, as well as organization of their various writing drafts.

The Close Reading Comprehension Learning Center will help my 3rd graders analyze text and focus on significant details, allowing them to develop a deep, precise understanding of the text’s meaning.

The Writing Process Student Folders will help my students keep their writing organized and in one place, preventing them from having to start a project over because they have misplaced it. The folders will also support their understanding of the writing process itself, guiding them through each step.
