My Students
My classroom is a diverse inclusive classroom of low-income students aged 3 to 5. For most of my students, this is their first learning experience. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. We are located in the inner city of Pittsburgh and provide a free comprehensive program that is designed to nurture and support each child as we prepare them to transition to kindergarten.
My students are very interested in learning about letters, math, social studies, engineering, and science, and they enjoy exploring technology.
They are dreamers, thinkers, and questioners and love to discover new things about the world around them. Despite the challenges they face, they come to school each day ready to work and play with smiles and positive attitudes.
My Project
We are preparing for our students to return to school full-time from a hybrid model. Although the situation with the virus is improving, we must still keep all supplies separated and individual. Fighting the spread of germs is very important, so giving the children a place to store their supplies is crucial. We have many unique classroom materials that we will not be able to use unless we are able to separate them for our students individually.
We are planning for each student to receive their own learning supplies to use and we currently do not have enough space to store these materials.
Our classroom is in need of a place to safely store individual learning materials for students for when they return to full-time learning in the classroom. The storage shelf will provide each student with their own space to house their materials and it will be at their level that they will have easy access to get their own learning materials and when they are finished they can return them until the next time.
