My Students
As a third grade teacher, I am currently trying to prepare for the 2021-2022 school year, face-to-face, during the COVID-19 pandemic that our nation is facing. My third grade students are hard-working, creative, fun-loving, and inquisitive kids that attend a Title I elementary school. My students are eager to start the new school year in the classroom after spending over half of last year distance learning.
All students deserve a safe and enjoyable classroom environment where they are able to learn without the constant threat of COVID-19.
With these extra supplies my students will be to focus more on their learning.
My Project
Having a classroom water cooler will allow my students to quickly hydrate instead of spending valuable instructional time waiting in line for the one water fountain that all 100 + third graders need to use. The refillable five gallon water container will insure that we have enough water for the entire class.The webcam will allow me to teach the students that may be quarantining at home insuring that they will not miss any instructional time. Using an electric pencil sharpener will assist in keeping the students safe from spreading germs from handling a regular classroom stapler. l, safe school experience that they are used to having at school in years past.
We currently only have one water fountain in our hallway that must be shared among the entire third grade (about 120 children).
Many of our students bring water bottles to school, so they can stay hydrated throughout the day during class-time. A water cooler, container, and cup dispenser would also help prevent the spread of germs on the water fountain.
Our project will help students stay hydrated, without losing valuable classroom time, with a water bottle filling station.
Students will be able to fill water bottles quickly and efficiently. Students would not have to tilt water bottles to try and get the maximum amount of water possible, which for most bottles is not full. This leads to more frequent trips to the fountain, and valuable learning time lost.
Not only would the water bottle filling station provide more efficient water bottle filling, but it would also prevent the loss of valuable educational time as the students wait in line for water.
