This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work as a Diverse Learner Teacher in Chicago, Illinois. My students have a mix of intellectual, physical, and mental impairments. I currently provide instructional minutes for 13 students ranging from 6th-8th grade. My students are energetic, passionate, and bright pre-teens who learn best in short bursts of instruction.

My students have been with me attempting to keep the classroom clean and disinfected, and my air filters have helped greatly, however, the cost of constantly purchasing masks and cleaning products has weighed greatly on me, so I turn to DonorsChoose to help me and my students in this fight against Covid.

My Project

My classroom is full of students who do minimal housework, and 98% of them have never picked up a broom or a mop. We clean the tables constantly and we constantly use a disinfectant spray on our seats and everything we touch, however, we have rarely mopped or swept or learned how to properly clean our surroundings. As such, these cleaning materials will be used to teach vital life skills the students need to live vibrant and independent lives, as well as assist us in our fight against COVID 19, and making sure that our learning environment is as clean as it can be.
