My Students
This year is going to be an adventure! No doubt about it, it will be a year to remember. As of right now, the plan is to return to my classroom in-person to help my students regain a sense of normalcy.
Like every classroom, my students have various needs and those needs are a little different this year than years past.
The health and safety of my students and myself are my number one priority this year. Students need to feel safe to best learn. This is more important than ever.
I have a classroom of diverse students. I have students that are well above grade level, students that qualify for resources, English language learners, and students with different social and emotional needs. Meeting individual needs is extremely important to me. I want every student to feel successful and develop a love of learning!
The thing I love most about my classroom is that we are a “family.” We are in this together. We work hard, have fun, and learn a lot.
My Project
2020 has been a year to remember (even if we want to forget it)! This upcoming school year will also be one to remember as well. My students and classroom are in need of several items to help keep us safe and healthy.
I believe that in order for students to be successful academically, they must feel safe in the classroom.
I am asking for several items to help us in our efforts. An air purifier will help us circulate and filter air. It is designed for a large room and hopefully, that added measure will help. I am also asking for gloves. I teach 2nd grade. I have to tie a lot of shoes and pick up questionable things in a normal school year. Gloves will provide me with a little extra protection. To help us with social distancing efforts, I am asking for whiteboards and clipboards that students can keep in their desk. This will help them only use one set and keep their germs to themselves. I know these things seem trivial, but they will provide this teacher with a little peace of mind as I have family members who are high risk that I need to protect.
