This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are now a combination of English speakers and English language learners that want to become bilingual. They are just beginning to learn to read, write, and count in both languages. My students will be exposed to the material in English and Spanish. Our school is a Title I. I have to lend them books so their parents can read to them at home.
My students are energetic and curious learners.
They are learning to develop their own opinions. They enjoy finding patterns and playing card games that develop their mental math and subitizing skills.
My Project
This vacuum cleaner will help us keep our classroom space clean. Students sit on the rug daily to listen to book read-alouds, learn to decode words in English and spanish, and solve math problems using mental math skills. The vacuum will help me provide students with a cleaner rug. Students will not be distracted with pieces of trash or strings on the rug. They will also keep their clothes cleaner. Students will hopefully have a safer and healthier environment with a dirt-free rug. I will be able use this cordless vacuum with greater ease and clean more areas around the classroom.
