From the very first day of school, our class talks about what it means to be an OWL, Outstanding Wise Learner. We always strive to be greater every day.
I teach at a Title I school where all students receive a free breakfast and over 60% of the students receive a free lunch.
I have 27 enthusiastic, diverse first graders in my classroom. For many, school is the only consistent schedule in their life. I strive everyday to create a safe and welcoming environment for them to learn and grow.
First grade is when many students learn to love reading. Students are now able to read more independently and fall in love with the stories and characters. Each student in my room has their own book box to keep their favorite books to read. However, with so much love on our books, some of them are starting fall apart. Furthermore, many books are unorganized in our classroom library, making it difficult to find books.
We need clear contact paper to put on the outside covers of our books to keep them protected and labels to help keep our books organized.
The clear contact paper protects our books from the wear and tear of reading and allows our books to last longer. The labels will be used to keep our books organized in our classroom library so that we are able to find a certain book when we need it.
