I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of 3rd graders who are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges, and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscle. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
As a district we are starting a new literacy curriculum. This will allow students to be in charge of their learning. In order to help students be on task during the ALL Block Literacy time. Daily, students are to select a time keeper. The time keeper will be responsible for setting the stop watch for their group. Making sure to allocate enough time for the task and discussion.
The magnetic timer and book holders will be used to the whole group.
Helping students to know the whole class work time and having resources up front for students to easily access.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
