My Project
As a teacher at my High School for more than six years, I've seen many books circulate through the hands of students. I've seen faces light up when reading about an ancient culture's mythology or reading Shakespearean plays. Time has taken its toll, however, on the weary bookshelves that hosted these books before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The room is in need of new bookshelves.
We also do a fair amount of presentations from the front of the room in the English Language Arts classroom.
At the time of the pandemic, all furniture and carpets had to be removed from classrooms. A new carpet would help create an inviting atmosphere for students to use when public speaking in front of the class. Students share personal stories, recite poetry, present research, and give speeches from the front of the room. A comfortable and cozy space that a rug or carpet provides will help students feel more at home when speaking from the front of the room.
Finally, more lamp light always helps illuminate an environment for reading and light a space that's calm, relaxing, and conducive to learning.
Thank you for your interest in updating the classroom space for incoming high school students.
