My Students

I teach Kindergarten in a Title I school with a blended community of learners. As a Kindergarten teacher, I feel I take an additional role as the child's ambassador to the school system. Every day I work to foster their curiosity in hopes to develop a lifelong love of learning.

Many of my students come from disadvantages, but despite the adversity they face, they work hard every day at school, all with a smile on their sweet little faces.

We have an amazing community in our school, where we not only focus on academics but also the social-emotional needs of our children. My Kinders are poured into to develop their literacy and math needs without ever losing sight of the importance of developing their social and emotional skills, as well. We focus on sharing, empathy, kindness, patience, and resilience. I love the family we build in both my classroom and our school.

My Project

During these difficult times there are many fun elements of school we have had to put on pause. I want to bring supplies into our classroom that will bring back the fun that every kid deserves. These materials will be used to enhance engagement in class, specifically in our small groups.

My Kindergarteners learn best through play, so all these materials look like toys but secretly are learning tools!

We will use popular toys such as pop-its to have students "popping" their sounds and mini-slinkies to smoothly sound out words. I cannot wait to see their excitement when they get these fun new materials in their little hands.
