My Students
My students are a fourth through seventh grade class of moderate to severe disabilities. I primarily am working with students with intellectual delay and other social deficits. Some students are non-verbal, others lack social skills, and some are just delayed developmentally.
Most importantly though is my students are energetic, unique, amazing, and capable of learning.
We do a lot of learning through play, crafting, and role playing and this helps my students understand concepts at a deeper level and helps keep them connected to their creative sides!
My Project
I am requesting these supplies to help give my students access to more arts and crafts materials at school. My students love to participate in arts and crafts activities and it gives them the opportunity to stay in touch with their creative minds as well as helping them to understand certain lessons at a deeper level because they were able to actively engage in the lesson.
When students are able to access their creative side; that's when the magic happens!
In my class students are still learning shapes, colors, letters, numbers and are constantly working on being able to follow multi-step directions! Arts and crafts is a really fun and functional way for my students to work on all of these different skills, while they actually enjoy it too!
I have also requested some simple learning games that will help my students reach their IEP (individual education plan) individual learning goals!
