Keeping Learning Active And Engaging With Flexible Seating
Help me give my students seating options that help them learn in a way that is BEST for them. Wobble stools and cushions, yoga balls, and chair bands allow for students to move while still being engaged!
My students are blessed to receive their education at a Title I school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wide variety of needs. My students are a bright, creative, and exciting group that is eager to learn. As their teacher, I hope to instill a love for learning, encourage and cheer them on, as well as showing them they can do anything they set their minds to.
I am constantly striving to accommodate to the needs of my students, physically, emotionally, and cognitively.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students the opportunity to move around, sit comfortably, and fidget in an appropriate way while still learning and being engaged. As I look around my classroom, I notice that I have some who are constantly moving their legs, a couple that prefer to stand behind their desk, and a couple that like to sit by their desk to complete independent work. Flexible seating gives my active students the opportunity to learn in a way that is best for them instead of the traditional desk and chair.
Giving students the power to choose their seating enhances engagement and creates student-centered learning opportunities.
This will be an opportunity for my students to have choice as apart of their learning. By giving students the power of choosing their seating option, I will be instilling a sense of ownership where they will be able to grow and learn to take responsibility. While I do have a few options for flexible seating in my classroom right now, with this donation I will be able to give my whole class the opportunity to learn in a spot that most benefits them.
