Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our families are struggling with food and financial insecurities. Times are hard for many of our students; I want to be able to break down barriers to students attending school and accessing learning.

A student's personal hygiene is so important for their health, attendance, and feeling confident in school.

I want to create hygiene kits for my students to maintain their health, mental health, and self-esteem, which are greatly impacted when they are experiencing financial insecurities.

I also want to give my students a sense of security in the classroom; accidents happen or the cold weather hits and students can be unprepared. I want students to know they can come to me when there is an emergency; band aids, flush-able wipes, socks, underwear, t-shirts, winter hats, and gloves are supplies that are often in demand when these situations arise. Breakfast and lunch snacks also will help students have full bellies so that best learning can happen.

I truly appreciate your support and kindness in supporting this project for my students' well-being.
