My Students
I teach 16 kindergarten-age students who love school! The kids that enter my classroom each day are spunky, creative, and eager to learn! My classroom houses students with a wide range of academic and social abilities, including students with special needs. Most of my students come from low to middle-income homes. I strive to give them the loving and supportive environment that they deserve while they are in my care so they can have the best chance of succeeding both academically and socially. They are amazing and make me strive to be the best educator that I can be.
My classroom is full of students from a variety of backgrounds, but when we come together we are a family who grows and learns together.
My Project
This project was created after I sat down with my students and we chatted about things we could use. We are a PBIS school and the students can earn incentives when they fill their Rails punch card. There are a couple of incentives that they really enjoy. One being gum and the other being stuffed animals. I am requesting both of those items because we are running out of them.
Play gives children the chance to practice what they are learning!
Each day in kindergarten we have stations. This is when the students get a variety of engaging activities to complete based on the skills that they need to work on. The pocket chart station is a must in every rotation so we are in need of two more pocket charts to help in differentiating more.
In the classroom, we could also use a hopscotch rug to allow movement during discovery time and inside recess. We need a set of large bins to store our dramatic play clothes, hats, dishes, and food, and also some items in our block area like cars and people. The students have really enjoyed using a stapler for projects and creating things in the writing center. The supply organizer bins will help keep that area organized and the gift bags are for projects. My students also use playdough almost every day during their discovery time. Their playdough has been well-loved and it would be nice to be able to replace it.
We are also in need of a bag to store and transport our recess equipment such as athletic balls, jump ropes, shovels, and buckets. This bag will be more kid-friendly than the current one we have. The students will be able to carry it themselves and it will store one of our hooks.
