Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The CES Colts are turning into a Fine Arts campus in which students will enjoy learning from two art teachers. I have been chosen to be the second art teacher but have no supplies to organize art materials to make them easily accessible to students. The following will help my art classroom stay organized and efficient so that my students spend the majority of time creating instead of wondering where or how to locate supplies.
The caddies will keep glue bottles/sticks, and scissors organized and ready to use for projects where my students find themselves cutting/gluing, such as often occurs in collages.
Paper trays are also very helpful because I stock them with colorful papers for students to create their collages. The pencil baskets store student pencils, erasers, and sharpeners' that are used to draw and create the necessary shapes to cut and paste on our background papers. The mesh zipper bags will be used to store crayons and markers that we use to add details to our collages. Lastly, when our artwork has dried, I place it in the classroom keepers to keep it safe for us to continue working on when we visit the following art class day.
The most amazing part of having these supplies is that the students fall into an organized routine in which they are responsible for gathering their supplies in order to begin or continue a project, and, to complete the class day during clean up. Not only do students use these supplies for years to come, but it also helps me with my classroom management and to ensure students are engaged in the lesson rather than distracted.
