My Students
My class consists of the most curious, sweet, loving kindergartners you can imagine. Seeing their little faces as they entered school for the first day was priceless. It is clearly evident, when speaking with any of my students, that they have such a desire to learn and grow. These children come from challenging home lives with limited opportunities. They all deserve a classroom equipped with all the necessary tools to access.
I am committed to ensuring that every child who enters my classroom will be supported as they begin their educational journey to becoming life-long learners and empathetic, responsible, contributing members of the community.
My Project
My kindergarten class and I gratefully received a class set of colored pencils from a previous Donors Choose project and have run into a pickle! Our classroom does not have an electric pencil sharpener and so my students struggle to sharpen their pencils with the small hand held sharpeners and I spend a great deal of time after school sharpening pencils for them. When students sharpen their own pencils with the hand sharpeners, a great deal of shavings end up on the floor. Although I give the floor a quick sweep at the end of the day, we would have a much cleaner classroom if we had a vacuum!
As a teacher, every minute counts and an electric pencil sharpener and a vacuum cleaner would save time allowing me more planning time!
