Our elementary school is a very dynamic and diverse group of students who are excited to learn every day. We challenge our students every morning to do their very best. As a school community, academic success is the ladder for our students to climb towards their unlimited potential.
Our elementary school is a Title I school with many students who are very low in socio-economic status including over 90% receiving free or reduced-price lunch at school.
Although in an impoverished area of the city, our school aims to be a very tight-knit community providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students to thrive in. Many of our students speak languages other than English at home so our staff strives to provide adequate opportunities for English language development. The teachers and students of our school are dedicated towards common goals of high academic achievement, personal responsibility, and becoming positive role models for our peers.
I am writing for a class set of sturdy, reusable water bottles in order to provide my students with adequate hydration everyday, healthy water drinking habits, and shaping their lives. Most of my students live in a very low economic income area where certain necessities like clean drinking water tend to be replaced by juices, sports drinks, and soda. Our health and nutrition really struck a chord with our students to change their habits but many lack the resources like a reusable water bottle on a daily basis.
"Drinking Water is essential to a healthy lifestyle.” Stephen Curry
Our school has been given a grant based water filtered dispenser that is available to all students in the multipurpose room for lunchtime but our students can also use anytime they wish. Having these water bottles will allow our students to stay hydrated every day. Keeping properly hydrated will allow our students to maintain focus, academic performance, and overall well being. Also before they leave school, they will have the opportunity to fill up their water bottle before they go home. Having their own water bottle while at home allows the students to maintain proper health and nutrition throughout their day. Please consider donating to our project.
