Keeping Focused with Headphones!

My students need individual headphones in order to stay focused on their computer assignment and not be distracted by other computers or students reading Time for Kids.

My Students

We are a Title One school in Southeast San Diego. Our school is a very ethnically diverse school. We have a large population of students that speak a variety of languages, so the majority of the population are English Language Learners. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with all of our students receiving free lunch. Yet with these challenges our students come to school excited to learn in a safe environment. As teachers we can control our students experience during the school day in a positive way. We focus on building their self esteem and confidence to inspire even our learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

My students can be highly distracted. Headphones are needed in order to keep them focused on assignments at their seats during independent work. They will be able to focus on assignments because sounds from the computer will not distract them and it will build a calm working environment during language arts. Headphones will allow my second language learners the ability to listen to stories and practice language skills that will aid in their development of the English language.

Time for Kids will allow students to be exposed to current events at their reading level.

It will give them the opportunity to experience reading a magazine type publication and understanding how it is written.
