Keeping Classics: Older Stories Have Value Too!

Help me give my students replacements for old tire copies of great books. Some novels are timeless, but books don't last forever. Help my students enjoy some classic novels but getting updated copies.

My Project

The goal of this project is to bring in fresh copies of older classics and older popular novels to our school library. It is important to have these older pieces of literature so my students have the opportunity for a well rounded education. Old yellowed pages and faded book covers are often passed over when students are looking at books on the library shelves. I have students who enjoy reading classics, and giving the updated copies may make other students more interested in reading them as well.

I strongly believe students should have an opportunity to read classic and award winning literature as well as new novels.

Having both available will help ensure the students at Glencoe have a well rounded educational experience. While this is my goal, it is hard to spend money replacing old copies of books when there are also new literature that is worthy as well. I am hoping through donors I a can get the best of both worlds, the ability to purchase new current reading material and make sure our old classics are vibrant and engaging when student are looking through the shelves.

Reading is a cornerstone to a good education and helps make student better students and well rounded people. Whether students plan to move on to college or career after high school being exposed to wide range of readings will be beneficial.
