Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at an inner-city high school (grades 9-12) with a student body of about 1100 students. We are equally balanced in racial diversity.

Our band program has made excellent strides in performance and in competition for the 2008/2009 school season, performing at both the local and state levels. Also, the drum battery has played in several high visual performances for civil leaders in the last couple of months and several more requests have been made.

By having new percussion equipment, the musicians will be able to increase their performance ability levels and will also be able to improve their visual presentation.

Our program has not been able to acquire new equipment since 1998 and it is time to move our fine percussionists to the next performance level. By having this percussion equipment, it will ensure that we have the most current equipment to perform at the most optimum level.
