My Students
I am a teacher at a Title I school where 90% of my students live in low-income households. Our school is in the community and we have a very tight-knit feel in the building. All students receive free daily meals through the school. There is a steady need for basic supplies this school year due to the unforeseen challenges the pandemic has brought for students and families.
My third graders deserve nothing less than the best experiences and materials!
Third grade is a year of rigorous yet rewarding work and my students always rise to the challenge! The encouragement, positivity, and collaboration of my students continues to amaze me every day. Despite all the uncertainty of this year and the amount of challenges they have overcome, they continue to persevere and make learning so meaningful! They deserve to be afforded all of the opportunities in the world.
My Project
Here is something I whole-heartedly believe, especially for the first year back in school after so much time virtual due to COVID-19: Learning and being in school should be FUN!
When students have materials like paint, dry erase boards, and Math dry-erase hundreds charts to be creative with their learning, they flourish and have much more rich school experiences.
Third grade is a time to explore and dive into so many awesome learning topics: ancient civilizations and multiplication being two favorites. However, these topics become so much more meaningful and lasting when arts are incorporated. One way that the paint will be used will be for making paint multiplication arrays! Students love this activity, but we need enough paint for the whole class to use. When we are done with these awesome activities, the two sets of Lysol wipes will help our areas stay clean and keep us healthy by killing germs left behind.
