My Students

Our art students come from a variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and artistic backgrounds. Some of our students come to us and have never created art. I work hard to incorporate art creation, aesthetics, art history, and art criticism into my students' lessons and make it my personal goal for these kids to enjoy walking into the art room to create! In our art room, we make connections to the core areas (math, reading, social studies, science, and writing) so students see that art connects to many parts of our lives.

Our art students are always creating, doodling, drawing, sculpting, folding, carving, critiquing, analyzing, comparing, and learning!

We are a busy classroom!

My Project

Students are often hungry and in need of a snack throughout the day. Each day, our students start out in homeroom. I have many homeroom kids who are hungry once the day starts...asking for snacks, stopping in part way through the morning to see if I have anything for them. Each month we have extended homeroom and I try to provide juice, hot chocolate, and a granola bar.

Having a mini refrigerator would allow me to make sure they have quality, healthy snacks.

We'd be able to keep a gallon of milk for cereal, juice, ice, yogurt, and more. This mini fridge would also help us out after school during our yearbook meetings when kids are also hungry after a long day of school (and they don't head home until 5:30pm). A fully belly makes for focused, hard working students!
