My Students

I am going to be a first-year head coach to our club lacrosse team that will have at least fifteen, low to middle-income freshmen-seniors. While this is not the first year of the program, it is still a young and growing sport in our region of West Virginia.

Our lacrosse program is in dire need of a culture change.

Over the last season, there were fights, arguments, and way too many penalties. By building a strong program based on playing fast on the field but slow in your mind, I hope to get the players to channel their emotions into positivity on the field, in the classroom and in every other aspect of their lives.

My Project

This last season my lacrosse team had just enough helmets to put a starting lineup on the field. With multiple upcoming eighth graders showing interest in joining the team next year, we will not have enough helmets for every player.

Our current helmets were purchased quite a few years ago and are starting to show their wear and tear.

With the purchase of the new Cascade-S helmets, the whole team will be better protected. On top of having better head protection, we will also have a matching set of helmets, unlike our current collection.

I hope to begin a new era of Saint Albans High School lacrosse. With the previous donations of new jerseys and this project to provide helmets, we will be starting fresh. Last season we were on probation due to the previous regime. We hold ourselves to a high standard and were released from our probation after only one season. We plan to continue to create a team on and off the field that can make the sport of lacrosse and our city proud.
