My Students
Our school serves students in poverty. As a Title I school, we are used to going without. Yet our students still have the same needs as others, if not greater needs. My students come from families that cannot provide any of the supplies needed for our school, so we often make due with what we have. This means that we are unable to purchase the things that would better assist my students who have severe learning needs. Despite this, we have passionate learners and teachers who are dedicated to providing the best education possible to our students.
My Project
My students frequently come to me reading two grade levels below where they should. The only way to remedy this is by keeping them reading all year long. By constantly practicing reading they end up making up skills they are missing so that they can enter 3rd grade ready to go!
Students want to read books that are interesting to them.
If they don't enjoy the book, they won't want to read the book. This is why it is so important for my classroom library to have books that they want to read. These books would really help keep my kids reading all year long!!!
