The students and families I work with are low income status and usually require more assistance than others. I love that my students are creative, talented, loving, compassionate enthusiastic, and very eager to learn. Many of my students don't have access to every day items that we consider to be the norm. If we (organizations, sponsors/individuals) can help out for the kids future this would be a great way. The students need to be prepared for a great learning experience, and not focused on whether their clothes are clean. Some students are missing school because they don't have clean clothes to wear. Currently our washer and dryer are in disrepair, and I am unable to assist the students with laundering their clothing, which has been causing some students to miss school.
If we could keep them clean, I know we can keep them coming.
Basic needs are so important and is truly valued by my students. All my students want to have an equal opportunity at being successful. Being able to provide these students the basics of clean clothing is a start. If these students essential needs are met it would provide them with positive self esteem, and confidence.
These items will make a difference because the children can stay focused on learning, participate in class instead of shunning away because of being self-conscience of their attire. Students can come to school have high self-esteem and absorb all the knowledge possible for them to become positive productive citizens of our community.
I will use the washer and dryer to launder the kids clothing that don't have funds or access to a washer and dryer.
The kids would give me their soiled clothing and I will wash, dry, and return them to the students, so they have clothing for the week.
