Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students live in a challenging part of the city, meaning they are in a high poverty and high crime area of town. We are a 100% free breakfast and lunch school. Our school provides a safety net allowing the kids to have a safe place to come and learn.
The kids consistently come to school excited to learn, and their positive attitude is almost infectious to be around.
They truly love to come to Mountain View on a daily basis!
My Project
Well, as we all know Covid has made things difficult in all walks of life. Even more so in the realm of music education. One requirement is that all wind instruments need to be covered at the bell to keep the germs inside. Having the requested bandanas in the classroom will allow me to cover the instruments (so they can play safely) and meet the requirement in a rather cost-effective way, which is important for the fact many of the students can not afford to buy many materials on their own.
More than half of students from low‑income households
